The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is actively promoting global collaboration with the aim of fostering numerous startups that can thrive in the world stage and drive innovation from Tokyo. As part of these efforts, in May 2024, Tokyo Metropolitan Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with "Startup Island Taiwan" (*) to strengthen the cooperation between the startup ecosystems of both regions and to promote support for startups.
To further develop such global partnerships, Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Startup Island Taiwan will co-host a seminar and networking event in Taipei, Taiwan. For this inaugural event, the focus will be on the healthcare sector, which is of significant importance to both Japan and Taiwan. The event will provide an opportunity to share insights into the startup ecosystems and business environments of both regions, as well as discuss challenges and solutions for international business expansion, thereby supporting the global growth of startups.Five selected healthcare-related startups from Tokyo (see attached document) will participate in this event, where they will engage with Taiwanese startups, investors, and companies to foster exchanges aiming to create business opportunities.

Since signing an MOU with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in May 2024, the partnership has deepened further, including collaboration in September of the same year at the "Japan-Taiwan Innovation Summit" held at Tokyo Innovation Base.
