Invited influencers in tech/FinTech scenes from four cities around the world to Tokyo

We at Access to Tokyo promote activities to lure the world to fascinating businesses in Tokyo as well as find promising startups in the world and collect information about them. As part of these activities, on November 2018, we invited four of the world's leading influencers in tech/FinTech industries to Tokyo and conducted a tour for them to experience the latest business environment and gemba where innovations are generated, as well as to get to know initiatives undertaken by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

1.OPEN TOKYO ― Showcasing startups and Tokyo as a city open to the world

  • Showcased open innovation initiatives driven by major companies and exchanged opinions on the topic.
  • Interviewed global companies about their successful collaborations with Japanese companies and had a discussion about the topic.

2.INNOVATIVE TOKYO ― Showcasing innovative initiatives and innovations happening in Tokyo

  • Learned about initiatives for innovation generation undertaken by universities/colleges.
  • Visited innovative startups in Japan to learn about their business models and exchange opinions.
  • Participated in a technology art event and experienced use cases of technologies in creative works.

3.SUPPORTIVE TOKYO ― Showcasing various support programs provided by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and other entities

  • Showcased support programs for global companies and startups provided by Tokyo and the Cabinet Office.
  • Outlined support given by Japanese venture capitals with actual cases.
  • Visited incubation offices in Japan to learn about their frameworks to support startups and startups' initiatives through presentations and exchanged opinions on the topics.

The four influencers who attended the program will continue to support us as "Invest Tokyo Ambassadors" in our efforts to attract global companies to Tokyo.
